Begin Your Credit Union Career Today!
If you're interested in the financial world and think you’d like to be a part of a long and proud history of people helping people, consider a career in credit unions. The credit union movement in Oklahoma includes 76 credit unions; the Credit Union Association of Oklahoma, the state trade association for Oklahoma credit unions providing products and services to credit unions; and a host of other service providers.
Unlike other financial institutions, credit unions aren’t for-profit companies that exist to make money for shareholders. Rather, they’re not-for-profit cooperatives striving to improve the financial well-being of their members-the people who belong to credit unions. They’re called members, not customers, because they own the credit union and have input into the way it operates, and the products and services it offers.
Members elect other qualified members who volunteer to serve on the credit unions board of directors or other committees without pay. Among the benefits credit union members enjoy are exceptional personal service and affordable financial services. Because credit unions are cooperatives, they recycle earnings into low loan rates, high savings rates, and new and improved products and services.
In short, credit unions provide people a safe place to save and borrow money at reasonable rates.
